I enjoy science fiction, computers, trivia, instrumental music, gadgets, movies, and 'some' tv shows.
I play piano by ear (figuratively), but only as an amateur. I don't know how to read music, though I spent more than 8 years in choir at school and college.
I love time travel stories and most scifi but could never get into "Doctor Who" or "Dune".
I've been in Security since 1987, the same year my first stepfather died.
I failed almost every history class I ever took, although I now enjoy history a great deal.
My name means "He Who Is Like God", but I'm agnostic.
My father and my mother's father died the same day, month and year... 14 hours apart. That same day, someone called my mother at my aunts house where my grandfather had just died and read her the riot act for not being there for me (even though her father had just died too). The operator traced the call but could only identify a number, and later I discovered the number to be a pay phone directly across the road from the trailer I was living in that my father died in earlier that day...
Fire has been a prominant influence of events in my life. My sleeping bag caught fire when I was a child due to being too close to a heater, the house we lived in at that time but moved out of burned down years later, a close friend of mine's mobile home caught fire due to faulty electrical wiring when they were away, I was first on the scene when someone in the mobile park I live in committed suicide by engaging their propane tank in their canopy and lit it, and my sister and nephew died as a result of a housefire after they moved to Georgia (my niece survived, thankfully, and you can read their story in my MEMORIAL section). Interestingly but completely coincidently enough, my astronomical sign is Leo, for which the element is the Sun, or fire. I'm not into astrology, but thought it was interesting none-the-less.
